mp3 | majical cloudz | turns turns turns

montreal's devon welsh or majical cloudz has been known primarily for his collaboration with grimes on their track "nightmusic," but has more recently released a couple of singles from his upcoming ep titled turns turns turns, garnering a new brand of attention. featuring four topnotch tracks including "what that was," which was featured on pitchforks best new tracks, the album seems rather promising -- the guy's vocals have been praised by more critics and music snobs than you'd care to have mentioned, but there's clearly some merit behind their shared sentiment.  check out the first single "turns turns turns" above and give it a (right click, save link as) download here.

mp3 // video | foxygen | shuggie

the video for foxygen's "shuggie," directed by ulysses///onasis, hit the webs today and is worth a view or two. the relatively large number of requests for a link to the stellar track didn't go unnoticed when we featured it back in october, but we have only now been able to supply -- more accurately, the guys at rollo & grady have been able to supply -- a download. long story short, watch the video if you haven't already seen it and grab the (right click, save link as) download here.

mp3 | twin peaks | come bother me

the rock & roll kids out of chicago, twin peaks put out their first album (excluding their demo) sunken back in early july of this year. while the entire lp can be easily recommended, "come bother me" has been on quite the roll around here, dominating several playlists.  it's a concise and jangly pop jam you'd be a fool to not get down on.  be sure to check out the artists bandcamp by clicking the album cover (as always), stream the single above and (right click, save link as) download here.

mp3 // video | chromatics | cherry

chromatics are killing it, again.  their new track "cherry" popped up a few days ago courtesy of the band's own johnny jewel.  taken from their after dark 2 triple lp, the song is quintessential chromatics:  straightforward pop bliss.  the video, directed by alberto rossini, was released the same day (november 25) and actually manages to match the caliber of the song, providing a chilled out approach that seems to fit just right.  stream the instant mega-hit above and if you haven't already grabbed it, (right click, save link as) download here.  aaaaand she's a major babe.

mp3 | criminal hygiene | blak water

we're not dead, but almost. made it through the better part of being sick and we're back. if there's a positive spin to apply to these long periods of inactivity around here, it's that it allows for the build-up of some killer tracks:

criminal hygiene is hardly a bad way to kick things off. the trio out of south central los angeles was "formed in 2011 over a couple of really good burgers." while it's not the featured track, "immortal eighteens" is real nice as well. be sure to check it out (that is, download it) over at rollo & grady. in the meantime, stream the equally rad "blak water" above and (right click, save link as) download here.

editor's note: while you guys can still expect some downtime this semester, i'll be working to keep this shit updated.  we've got some good stuff lined up. thanks for the support as always yall; happy viewing and listening and crud.

mp3 | autre ne veut | counting

it only makes sense to draw parallels between brooklyn's autre ne veut (arthur ashin) and how to dress well - this, of course, is a good thing. arthur ashin first introduced himself in 2010 with a self-titled and relatively low-key release; he has more recently dropped the new single, "counting," to our own delight and considerable critical praise. anxiety, the artists forthcoming lp is set for february 12, 2013 release date. until then, check out the single above and give it a (right click, save link as) download here via the guys at bestnewtracks.

mp3 // video | joey bada$$ | daily routine

joey bada$$, the seventeen-year-old hiphop savant out of brooklyn, released his debut lp 1999 back in late august. "daily routine" - one of many standout tracks on the album - is among his best work and is well worth a listen.  produced by chuck strangers, the track employs a beat that reminds us why we fell in love with hiphop in the first place.  check out the yourstruly video feature below and grab the songs from scratch session (right click, save link as) download here also via the folks at yourstruly.
