mp3 | gung ho | twin rays

late last week we featured gung ho's "side by side" and this week we're starting off (happy monday) with another indie-pop treasure from the very same australian mans. i've played the track too many times in the past couple days to avoid a double post; it's catchy freal. but ya'll be the judge - check out the stream above and if you like: (right click, save link as) download here.

mp3 | gung ho | side by side

gung ho is made up of three australian dudes.  the band is cool and so is their bio:

gung-ho is a us television sitcom that originally aired on nbc from july 5, 1989, to may 14, 1998, lasting nine seasons, and is now in syndication. the eponymous band was created by larry david and jerry seinfeld, with the latter starring as a fictionalized version of himself. set predominantly in an apartment block on manhattan's upper west side (but shot mainly in los angeles), the band features a host of jerry's friends and acquaintances, including george costanza, elaine benes and cosmo kramer.

mp3 | how to dress well | & it was u

tom krell, better known as how to dress well just released his second full-length, total loss on september 17 in north america. as a celebration of sorts, check out the albums single, "& it was u." we were convinced how to dress well had come and gone, but the single, and more specifically, the album as a whole, did a pretty good job of debunking that idea.  with any luck, he'll be around for a while.  be sure to sample the stream above and, courtesy of the artist, grab the (right click, save link as) download here.

stream | sun airway | close

newer single from philadelphia-based sun airway, "close" seems as good a place to start as any. the track is the first to emerge from the forthcoming album, soft fall, which is set for an october 2 release date. while possibly busier, the song remains relatively true to their established sound and is worth a listen. check out the stream above and we'll work on a download.

mp3 | ghost loft | seconds

los angeles' danny choi, or ghost loft, seems to be a pretty understated guy in a lot ways. there's not an abundance of information readily available on him and his music reflects a similarly stripped nature, with slick, clean production that's concise, steamy and brilliant. despite having released only a handful of remixes and singles, he's already offered enough to warrant some big-time attention. stream "seconds" above and (right click, save link as) download here.

mp3 | lord huron | the man who lives forever | rollo & grady session

sneak peek (albeit, dated) from michigan's (los angeles-based) lord huron. their upcoming full-length lonesome dreams is slated for an october 9 release and based on what we've heard so far, we couldn't be more eager to get a hold of it. the track featured tonight comes courtesy of the fine folks over at rollo & grady, so be sure to check them out after you stream the teaser "man who lives forever" above and give it a (right click, save link as) download here.

mp3 | elite gymnastics | here, in heaven 4 & 5 | cfcf rework

back in march, montreal based producer cfcf remixed elite gymnastics' "here, in heaven" for the band's ruin 3 ep (which is made up entirely of remixes of the original album).  the track's been remixed a tragillion times by now, but if you're going to listen to any them, this is the one - arguably even over the original. it's a ridiculous eight minutes long and (somehow) top-notch from beginning to end. throw it on before bed time, freal. stream above and (right click, save link as) download here.

mp3 | thee oh sees | i was denied

thee oh sees will be releasing their new full-length, purifiers ii on september 11 via in the red. the band's creator and front-man, john dwyer, has been part of san francisco's indie music scene since the nineties, and  thee oh sees are no spring chickens themselves, with the forthcoming album marking the bands fourteenth release. "i was denied" is from warm slime, which debuted back in 2010 and it's still one of their best. stream above and (right click, save link as) download here.

mp3 | ducktails | hamilton road

there isn't a better song for a sunday evening porch session. or any other day porch session for that matter. ducktails' "hamilton road" is - again - nothing new, but it's timeless and required listening. from their 2011 full-length, iii: arcade dynamics, the track is nothing short of amazing and has been played more times than i care to mention.  if you haven't heard it you're nuts and if you have, listen again. check out the stream above and as always (right click, save link as) download here.

video // mp3 | harlem | someday soon

the jangley banger "someday soon" has been around for a while now, but like most things of value, it's managed to only get better over time. the austin-based, garage rockers harlem released their second full-length, hippies, in april of 2010 and have been off the radar - if you will - since.  this is a fact that sucks. above, you can watch the video for the first track from a great album and assuming you like what you hear, pick up the (right click, save link as) download here.
