mp3 | frank ocean x outkast | pink matter | big boi rework

last year saw the release of what's likely one of the best r&b albums of all time with frank ocean's topnotch channel orange. just as we finally begin to create playlists void of frank ocean, big boi goes and blows it. the new rework of channel orange's "pink matter" hit the web a few days back and was officially released by big boi over the weekend.  it's less of a remix and more of the same song with an added verse.  that's actually exactly what it is.  fortunately, said verse is good enough to warrant a listen.  unfortunately, that same verse is good enough to throw "pink matter" back onto a playlist or two.  stream it above and grab the (right click, save link as) download here.

mp3 | ryan hemsworth | thinkin bout you | frank ocean rework

another talented producer out of canada, ryan hemsworth has been on a bit of a tear as of late. his lftf (live for the funk) mix was met with enormous hype (follow link above for download) and though summer days are dwindling, his recently released "slowed summer" mix is the way to be sure the season dies in style. take a chance on a sure thing and (right click, save link as) download here. for more of his bootlegs and equally impressive originals, check out his soundcloud - don't miss the rework of grimes' "genesis."  as a sample, stream the frank ocean "thinkin bout you" remix above and (left click, then hit download now button top right) download here.

mp3 | frank ocean | sweet life

itunes just made a[nother] fortune. it seems the digital behemoth managed to secure an early release of what's bound to be one of the year's biggest: channel orange from r&b sensation, frank ocean. the physical full-length is still set for a july 17 release date, so enthusiasts will have to remain patient. the album delivers and has somehow stayed afloat despite waves of endless hype. as a celebration - of sorts - the second single "sweet life" can be streamed above or grab the (right click, save link as) download here.

mp3 | frank ocean | pyramids

frank ocean has been a key player in the (formerly) grassroots movement to revive and reinvent modern r&b. the release of his debut mixtape nostalgia early last year combined with the works of artists like the weeknd and how to dress well has managed to carve out a significant niche, that while never dead, had receded into relative obscurity.  the scene is in full swing now and with tracks like "pyramids," it's not hard to understand why. a lengthy journey of r&b brilliance, pitchfork nailed it when they wrote: "the song's a 10-minute r&b event, traveling from club banger ancient egypt... to the slow jam strip club."  ocean's upcoming full-length, channel orange is slated for a july 17 release date via def jam and as always, stream the new single above or download it (right click, save link as) here.
